Donald Trump Destroys Obamacare Instead Of The Libs.
Trump Moves To Erase Joe Biden's Healthcare Legacy, And Is Raising Medicine Costs In The Pursuit.
Diving further into the avalanche of executive orders in Donald Trump’s first days, we are going to take look at his sweeping list of executive orders targeted at undoing health care reforms by his predecessor Joe Biden.
Luckily, many of Biden’s larger reforms were passed through Congress and not able to be overturned by executive order.
Leaving Trump instead with a collection of smaller executive orders to tear away at what he could, despite whatever the cost may be to consumers.
This includes a COVID-era executive order that allowed an extra 3 months of enrollment for health insurance to those who were uninsured or under-insured. It also enabled families with young children to gain more extensive coverage.
The executive order was a core part of what helped expand coverage to millions more under the Biden administration and it’s removal is sure to have some effects on enrollment numbers going forward. Some estimates suggest as high as 25% loss of Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage.
Or Executive Order 14070, which implemented a wide range of benefits for Medicaid and Medicare recipients. Including lowering out-of-pocket medicine costs by hundreds of dollars, expanding coverage to half-a-million more low income individuals, directing funds for outreach organizations to sign more people up for Medicaid, and working with states to lower insurance premiums.
Another benefit from this executive order was providing postpartum care coverage through Medicaid for up to a year after pregnancy.
All of these benefits are now up in the air as Trump has yet to announce any replacement.
Trump also overturned an executive order that had admittedly little benefit shown thus far, but was expected to by 2030.
As it directed Medicare and Medicaid to research ways to lower medicine costs and allow for the development of generic, cheaper versions of these drugs to be made. With the overall aim of the program to be $2 out-of-pocket caps to be achieved for the consumer.
Other acts as it pertains to health is a swift overturning of any COVID-related executive order, even overturning ones now long void as an act of good measure.
He also overturned an executive order that was intertwined between environment and health, as it was directed at preventing environmentally hazardous conditions for workers that could negatively effect their health.
Which further sets the stage for this administration that wants to gut Medicare and Medicaid, roll back protections long established under the Affordable Care Act, and continue to make healthcare less accessible and more profitable to meet little roadblocks in achieving those goals.
The aforementioned executive orders are almost guaranteed to fly under the radar, as they are mundane and rather minimal in scope when taken individually. However they add up to paint a clear picture of a goal to unwind the administrative state and the benefits it provides millions of Americans.
All with “concepts” of a plan to replace it at best.
This aged ignorant POS is what a half of this country wants to move us…where? Why?
