The Party Of Law & Order Is Now The Party Of Pardons.
Donald Trump Pardons Over 1500 Criminals, Including Violent Offenders.
Today, as part of the series covering Donald Trump’s executive orders, we will be diving into his pardons. While technically different from executive orders, they still happen at the stroke of a pen from the President.
The full number pardoned totals over 1500, with 14 commutations of sentences as well for members connected to the far right-wing extremist groups the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.
Seemingly done without thought or consideration as to what level of participation was had in the January 6th riots, as even the most heinous offenders are now walking free.
Take for instance, David Dempsey, whom a judge called "one of the most violent” in the January 6th riots. He publicly stated the need to hang multiple congress-members, while standing next to a noose, before then pepper spraying and assaulting officers with an array of weapons including a metal pipe.
He received a full pardon from Donald Trump.
Or Enrique Tarrio, leader of the Proud Boys, who was charged and convicted of Seditious Conspiracy.
It was found he distributed a memo entitled “1776 Returns” that established plans to take over and occupy 8 buildings on capital grounds, while also gathering people to go to the capital on January 6th to carry out these plans.
He received a full pardon from Trump, and each member of his organization either received a pardon or commutation as well.
Guy Reffitt brought a gun and zip-ties to take hostages with and then threatened to shoot his own children if they told law enforcement on him. He was pardoned by Donald Trump.
Daniel Rodriguez incited violence leading up to January 6th, writing in a Telegram the day prior that “There will be blood.” He went on to use a taser on an officers neck, and break into a congressional office. Unsurprisingly, he was also pardoned by Donald Trump.
Officer Brian Sicknick, one of the officers who tragically lost his life due to the actions on January 6th, was attacked and pepper sprayed by Julian Khater. Who also received a pardon from Donald Trump.
We could list endless amounts of names from this list of pardons just who attacked officers. 149 convictions for assault on a police officer, 41 of those charges involving a deadly weapon. Over 140 officers injured, many unable to return to their position afterwards.
All the perpetrators received full pardons.
This is despite those around Trump pretending they would never consider a pardon for violent criminals. Or polling showing his “mandate” might not include pardoning these kinds of criminals.
Where Trump was largely brought into office in hopes it could shift prices and he could make things cheaper, from the executive orders and pardons we’ve covered so far that seems nowhere on his list of priorities.
