Trump Has Nearly Killed More Yemeni Civilians In 52 Days Than The Last 23 Years.
Donald Trump's Actions In Yemen Have Been Catastrophic To The Civilian Population.
Donald Trump came into office promising to be a bringer of peace. He promised to end wars on day one, and put an end to the military-industrial complex that has long ruled over America.
Unfortunately, he’s done none of that.
This second term of Trump’s has instead been marred by diplomatic failure, the inability to secure peace, preemptive attacks on innocent targets, and massive civilian deaths.
The worst part? Much of it was preventable.
Let’s take Yemen for example. According to Airwars reporting, from 2002 until the start of Trump’s current presidency, the U.S killed 258 civilians in Yemen. However, in less than two months of Operation Rough Rider under Donald Trump, at least 224 civilians have been confirmed dead.
This includes the two single deadliest attacks on civilians by U.S troops happening just months ago under Donald Trump. These strikes were so heinous numerous human rights organizations are questioning their legality.
It’s not just in totality of strikes either, but in number of fatalities. For instance, a 2024 Joe Biden attack killed 14 civilians in a low populated area around a seaport. Meanwhile Trump’s attack into a much more densely populated port killed over 80 civilians.
This was also the first time that GBU-53 StormBreaker glide bombs were used in a conflict zone. One of the U.S.’ newest air-delivered munitions, it has a range of up to 110 kilometers.
Far more than is necessary in civilian populated areas. Which begs the question, why were they being used?
These actions fly in the face of the peace Donald Trump promised to represent, and rather symbolize a continuance of the typical American imperialism and guide by the military-industrial complex.
