This is obviously preliminary, but in using estimates of similar mobilizations in 2020 we can paint a rather accurate picture of the cost. The estimated $1.1 million a day stretches out to roughly $401 million in a year.

For the $401 million Trump is spending, we could house between 20,000-47,000 individuals a year. If we take the cost spent on the National Guard in LA, 134 million, as to say “of course it won’t last all year” that’s fair.

However, Donald Trump could still house the entire homeless population in Washington D.C for less than this amount.

Head Start is estimated to cost between $8,000-$12,000 a year. Donald Trump could send 33,000-50,000 additional kids to Head Start each year for this same daily cost. Which is proven to lead to better adult outcomes and educational results.

Pell Grants average between $4,500 and $7395, Donald Trump could fund these for an additional 54,000-89,000 students for this same daily cost.

School Based Health Clinics are shown to improve health and educational outcomes, while costing between roughly $16,000-$640,000 depending on the scope of services and size. Meaning for this same daily cost, Trump could fund between 626-24,303 new clinics in a year.

Summer EBT to ensure kids are fed over the summer costs $120 per child, Trump could feed over 3.3 million kids for this daily cost.

Low-Income Public Transit passes cost roughly $600 annually, Trump could grant this to over 670,000 individuals for this cost. Same with low-income broadband internet.

When put into perspective, the move not only seems dangerous, but incredibly stupid.
